The game engine behind the islands.

Jellyworks runs on JellyDrop.

Made for one kind of game.

Water that lives

Every island sits in its own lake. Rivers find their way down and spill over as waterfalls, rain patters on the surface, and the lake can freeze over or turn to lava.

A look like a miniature

Soft rounded pieces, a studio light that moves through the day and the seasons, and a lens that focuses where you look. Photo mode refines a frame until it could pass for real.

Residents who notice

Build homes and someone moves in. They keep little routines, make wishes, and react to what you do: a new bench, a frozen lake, a campfire catching at dusk.

Islands in order

Put your islands in order with little scenes between them. Each one gets its own goals, and a boat carries players on to the next.

  • Drag to reorder
  • Play from any island

The Sequence view: cards for each island and cutscene, the transitions between them and a live preview

Sail between islands

Your islands sit together on one big lake. Move them around, draw the boat's route and pick the boat.

Little stories and goals

Decide what happens on each island: a few words from the wisp, goals to reach and the moment it's done.

Menus that match

Style the title screen, pause menu and loading screen together, so it all feels like one game. Start from a template and make it yours.

The UI tab: a menu screen being designed with its elements and details

Photo mode

Pause time, focus where you look and watch the picture sharpen into what looks like a real miniature.

Light or dark

Work in the light look or a dark one for late evenings. Your islands look the same either way.

The rest is up to your imagination.

Cutscenes

Push, pull, pan and orbit shots with lines of dialogue, played right on your islands.

Sound

Ambience, music and a sound for every touch, set for each island.

Share

Publish to the community. Anyone can play it, and build on it if you allow remixes.

Playtest

Play your game in its own window and jot notes as you go. They land back in the editor.

English, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Dutch and Japanese.

One file

Islands, story, menus and sounds travel together, ready to pick up anywhere.
